Why We Study the Cell and Its Components

The cell is the most basic form of life essentially. Scientists study the cell because it is the simplest unit of all living organisms. Anything that is living fundamentally is composed of cells. To begin understanding life they must realize the cell's structure, whether it is about the types of cells or just how the cell functions.

Biology is the study of life and for the human species. The cell is the most basic principle of life, that is why it is so important to understand the complexities of cells. Two basic categories that all cells fall under are; prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. The prokaryotic cells are single celled organisms, which include archaea and bacteria. The eukaryotic cells on the other hand are more complex, which include plants, animals, fungi, and protists.

A major difference between the prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells is that the prokaryotic cells do not have a nucleus, where as the eukaryotic cells do. The prokaryotic cells are usually about 1/10 the size of eukaryotic cells, and are the oldest primitive form of life. Scientists have discovered this through finding of fossils.

Both types of cells reproduce, but do have a different process of reproduction. The prokaryotic cells reproduce through a process called binary fission, the eukaryotic cells reproduce through a process called mitosis. The eukaryotic cell's DNA is organized into chromosomes. This makes them far more structured that that of the prokaryotic cells, who DNA is a single loop. The prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells gain the energy they need to develop and maintain functionality by a process of cellular respiration.

The eukaryotes are divided into smaller categories called kingdoms, like plants, fungi, and animals, are multi-cellular. The prokaryotes are the study of scientific classification, these are known as taxonomic kingdom, that typically reproduce by asexual budding and have a process style of photosynthesis, absorption, various primitive pathogens, and blue-green algae.

Without the scientist studying the cells and their components, they would not know how to develop the antibiotics that is need to cure the form of bacterial stands, that break down a body. Without the study of these cells scientists would not be able to come up with cures for anything, then we would have more death at any age, then we have ever had.

Hopefully with the studies that the scientists do on the cells and their components, will help to come up with cures for diseases that start at birth. Even come up with ways to stop the spread of germs, that carry from one person to another.

With the scientist studies of the cells gives us a better understanding of just how living things work. The more they study and know the better the human race will be, and the longer
