WHAT IS INSPIRE ?
Inspire, the name itself is self explanatory, we inspire, we motivate, we aid in making good people and henceforth amazing personalities. The aforementioned aspects are the main qualities of inspire. Inspire is a social cum technical initiative taken by the mechanical engineering students of GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE, BARTON HILL. Being the students of a prestigious government sanctum sanctorum we are highly indebted to the society and more over its people for their support as they are indirectly investing each and everyone in the college. Only a menial amount is presented in front of us. This gave us a nudge for stepping into the social works and into social-cum-technical work, so as to make more and more children interested in engineering and its enormous potential as well as opportunities. The world needs inventors and the world needs the best of them fast. As engineers we have stepped into helping out our brethren realize their capabilities. The students have encouraged our inspire camp and this keeps us going still strong and resolute.
We ,through this initiative hope to direct students to a better future by opening avenues of technical knowledge with the knowledge we have gained through our curriculum. We try to unlock their hidden potential and show them what they are capable of achieving.
OUR METHODOLOGIES
• The everyday classroom approach of teaching is taken away and a neo-scientific approach is followed.
• Each and every child gets to experiment with and visualize everything that is being taught
• Their curiosity is challenged here along with their intellect.
• Child grouping is rendered, enhancing their rational and logical approach.
• A group of mentors will act as effective guides to the children, guiding them step by step through each and every activity that is followed.
PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN
It’s not the abilities but the decision we make, makes us extraordinary. Within the short tenure of the inception of the inspire camp by full throttle, we have managed to hold on to that motto. The program gained its initial impetus in the month of July, from which there was no turning back.
The inspire program, known for its exorbitant programs, has conducted classes in 3 centers till now. The center’s are
1. JAI MATHA, NALANCHIRA
2. SAI GRAMAM ORPHANAGE
3. BALA BHAVAN, KANNAMOOLA
The students embarking on their upper primary classes were mainly targeted. The main objective of the class was to instill some basic aspects of technical education within those little minds and it was quite amazing to see how all of them responded to the class and surely without any hesitation they were motivated at its pinnacle. Impeccable interaction aided by the help of practical showcases was wholeheartedly welcome by the kids. On the contrary, inspire also wanted to showcase the ability of their little minds which might have been subdued by the lack of knowledge of science and the lack of practical knowledge. Inspire did a great job in showing themselves their ability and their immaculate potential. The concept of bookworm was done away with and a very concise experimental approach was added in. Interest towards the technical field was easily implemented.
The children supported us even more by constantly bombarding us with intellectual questions within their reach. And their incessant doubts delighted us even more as they were showing great interest. A working model of a simple drone was present with us on the day thereby increasing the level of interaction. The work of a teacher is great, but the work of a motivator is even better. We are quite proud to tell your good self that we were able to reach the level of a motivator. Well in inspire, the motivators are not the cynosure but the motivated are. So be motivated.
INSPIRE CAMP
The inspire camp being inaugurated widely all over thiruvananthapuram will be conducted in more than one phase. The first phase is a common test for the kids from which a few brilliant ones are sewed out. The questions will be of a medium level and from there the selection starts, the students are refrained from their level of studies and made more and more interactive and henceforth bringing out best abilities in the children. The selected candidates are then subjected to an inspire camp of 2 days where rigorous training is held and students get ample time for understanding on the workings of mostly everything of their academic level. The students will also be taught what will be awaiting them in an engineering course and what they should try to do to be the best around. The concept of education rather than by-hearting is induced and hence a child gets more motivated. Well this is precisely an experience camp and hence we provide the best experience a kid has ever got, by giving a vast variety of activities ranging from simple topics to topics which will truly challenge a child's IQ.
All these programs will be done only with the consent of the child as personal interest should also be taken into consideration. There will be great field experts present and this will give huge knowledge that we, students can impart. Experts on various fields are welcome and a brevity of theory is taught with more practical knowledge on the loose.
A particular child has a particular interest and we, inspire are able to bring out his/her talent into a world where they believe it will work .
CURICULUM
The curriculum is so designed as to incorporate not only their everyday school syllabus but also intriguing aspects of science so as to spark up an element of curiosity inside each and every child .
1. Toys From Trash : Transform junk we encounter on a day to day basis into things of value, thereby igniting their imagination. These act as teaching aids, which the kids can make use at a later point of time in order to help them with their studies .
2. Pump From Dump : Using everyday objects to create an engineering marvel , in this scenario a hydraulic pump.
3. Curiosity : Pique an interest in the mind of children about
