A lot of people go out camping each year. For each person, one of the basic things they all need to know is what to do if the ever run out of water. Water is one of the things in our life that we can't live with. That is why it is important for them to know how to find their own water. What if the water is dirty? Then you need a way to make the water drinkable. There are actually a few ways to purify it. One way to do it is by taking water and boiling it in a pan over a stove. Stay away from standing water, water that is dark, smelly, or filled with debris. You should make sure that you take out anything floating at the top as the water boils. Another way to do it is to use a purifier. It is important to make sure that it is chemical-free. If you don't feel like buying something expensive, try using a method with five pebbles, a container, and a piece of cloth or plastic. Dig a hole in the ground and place the container in it. Place the cloth over it and put four pebbles on each corner and one in the middle so that it hangs more than the other ones. Sooner or later condensation will gather up in the container and you will have your own water. You can also try using chlorine dioxide tablets. Do not use iodine tablets. Even though they are still being sold, iodine tablets can be harmful to people with thyroid conditions. A very good idea is to use sand and gravel. If you have a funnel or even a water bottle, you can put the sand and rocks in the funnel and they will stop the pollutants from going down the funnel with the water. You can always use a strainer to get pollution out of water, but the water will not be as good as it would if you had used another method to clean the water. Without water you would be dehydrated. A sign of dehydration can be if your urine is dark. As you can see, your body needs water, and you always need a backup plan if you don't have water with you. Without water, you could die.
