Smoking cigarettes should be banned
Smoking has been part of our life for many centuries now. It has evolved from simple tobacco type rolled in leaf to a more refined stick that has filter. Smoking is an expensive habit. People who smoke cigarettes can spend more than 400 € per year on them. Many studies have suggested that smoking carries with it many different disease complications and that it should be limited if not totally banned. Many people believe that there are good and bad outcomes from smoking. There are divided opinions on whether smoking should be banned.
Smokers claim that it helps relax them and it releases stress. They also believes that if there were no cigarettes, people , especially young people would try to find solutions to other narcotic substances like drugs and alcohol to cope with everyday problems. Besides, many young people will state that the reasons why they smoke cigarettes are easily adjust to society and to be regarded as a cool person. But I do not agree with they're opinion about smoking. I believe that smoking is bad and that it should be banned. Many people think that smoking is a sign of coolness but in fact it damages the body. Cigarettes contain nicotine which is an addictive substance and that is why it is hard for smokers to stop smoking. Smoking can damage the lungs, the heart, diseases like oral cancer, lung cancer and causes other diseases. Smoking also affects pregnancy and newborn children. Using cigarette during pregnancy pose can be serious risks to fetal heath. Many people do not know what ingredients are in cigarettes and why they may be harmful to them.
One of my friends also thinks that smoking cigarettes is the pleasure that can he easily afford. Many people after they had tried cigarettes become addicted. For them it is only enjoyable because they have nothing better to do, they are bad at sports, bad at school or their life is difficult. But they should know that smoking is a health hazard for smokers and non-smokers. If there are non-smokers around smokers, they breathe the same air and that is not good. Non-smokers even have a higher rate of attaining diseases when they are around cigarette smoke. When children breathe in cigarette smoke, they have an increase risk for childhood illnesses such as asthma and ear infections.
Smokers should have the right to choose what to do with their own health but they should respect non-smokers. The money spent on smoking is one of the reasons why we need to ban smoking. In my opinion smoking should definitely be banned in public places as it not only has deleterious effects on the non smokers present there but also may cause allergic coughing to many people. I do not understand why would someone smoke cigarettes even if they know the consequences which are bad for they're
