Remember the Titans
Remember the Titans is a film directed by Boaz Yakin. Based on a true story, the story originally takes place in Alexandra, Virginia. This movie is basically about how white and black people integrated in T.C. Williams high school. A black coach leads an American football team where black and white youths play. He needs to bring both races together so that they can work together as a team. In the beginning, they don't like each other. There are fights, arguments and disagreements between the two groups. It is amazing how both groups were able to work in team.
During the years before the movie, people are racist and stick only with people from their own race. This movie is tells the audience how the white and black people mix in the school and in the American Football Team. This movie has won some awards. It's a heart warming movie and exciting movie that you should watch.
In 1971, the school had been integrated and became the first mixed white and black school in the region. The football team has 2 coaches, a white and a black coach. The white coach is replaced by a black coach from North Carolina. During the film the white coach refuses to work with the black coach and be his assistant, but then he changes his mind because he knows that if he is not a part of the team they are not going to be able to play. Racial tensions made the black coach take over the football team and the black and white people had to learn how to deal and live with each other in the camp. To make the team become co-operative and less racist, the black coach brings the American Football Team to a camp before the school starts. He shows us that racism is alive in this football team. He made them team go from hating each other to being best friends.
The music used is a mixture of classical, rock, and pop music. Whenever the music is sung by the actor, they let us feel they are enjoying themselves and feeling happy. When the music is being played, you can imagine that part of the movie. You can get the feeling and you will hum when the music is being played.
The white and black people were racist in the beginning because of the conflict in the American society for civil rights. The black coach doesn't want a team full of racism and there is no co-operation between the team members. Once, the white and black coach talks about who is going to be the captain of the football team. And the black couch says:"the best player will play, colour won't matter". He is told by a school board member if he loses a game, he will be fired. He faces a lot of pressure. If there is racism, they never going to win a game. But at last they joke and play around, singing together and hanging out together.
The pace is fast, the point is to make the viewer know racism and that it existed between white and black people. This film is on the right track. It was ascending. Is about
