Prejudice
A scene from the movie that displays prejudice Is when Julius and Gerry are first at the camp, they start arguing and that leads to conflict and discrimination, as it turns into a full out brawl between everyone. Also, when the football team first returns to the school, the entire school turns their backs on the blacks, and Gerry's girlfriend refuses to talk to him, because he has made Friends with "the black man."
I have witnessed prejudice before when most football teams don't allow girls to play. Some teams let them tryout and put them on the team then they work them so hard they make them want to quit. I think if a girl can kick just as far as a guy they should be able to try out for kicker and not worked so hard they want to quit that is just plain mean. Like what is wrong with girls playing football? I think nothing is wrong with it i think it would make the sport better.
I think Gerry did the right thing when he didn't turn his back on his black teammates just because that wasn't "the right way." Gerry's girlfriend didn't even want to meet Julius no matter if he was Gerry's friend or not. At the end of the movie she ended up shaking his hand and finally meeting him officially.
