Influence of Entertainment Media Paper
In what way have various forms of entertainment media shaped American culture and its values? Some major American values are individuality, privacy, time, and informality. All types of media have helped people develop their individuality by letting them chose what television show or station to watch, the different and wide selection of radio stations, and the massive unlimited sites of the Internet. You have the privacy to use all types of media in your own home, car, or whatever place you chose to. People would have some kind of time to watch television, listen to radio, or be on the computer because they are all offered twenty-four hours a day. All media in a way are informative, the radio, television, Internet, all have either a station or site solely for news. So, you are always being informed about something.
Are the social influences of entertainment media mostly positive or negative? Explain.
I think they are mostly positive. Several television shows are either informative or just pure entertainment. You have the freedom to watch whatever you want or go on whatever sites on the Internet that you please. You are responsible for you what you get out of the information. If you think something is negative then you don't have to watch it or go on the site.
Whether the entertainment media are a reflection of or catalyst for societal behavior and attitudes. People are responsible for how they take entertainment media. The writers and producers of media have a freedom to put up whatever they want. Sometimes media can change people's behavior for the good and bad but it's their own choice.
