Time Management:
We do lot of activities in our daily life. Some are planned and most of them are unplanned. As and when we face to these random activities, we get involved in them. Sometimes, random or unplanned tasks seem to be small, but unknowingly, these tasks might take much of our precious time without giving credits or growth to our life. "Time = life; therefore, waste your time and waste of your life, or master your time and master your life" (Alan Lakein, 1973). It is true, if we manage these unplanned activities properly, it will yield to our Personal and Professional growth. In online learning, this Time Management is very crucial. Almost everyone is always busy during the office timing in completing given projects or assignments, busy in home in family responsibilities, playing with kids, watching TV programs and other day to day routine activities.
Since online learning involves doing considerable amount of self study, from entire busy schedule one should allocate sufficient time for it daily and spend quality time in studying, covering new course material on a regular basis. First, one should have a detail view on what is needed to be achieved in certain time limit, and then he should list all those activities or tasks needed to be completed. Then he should prioritize those tasks, prepare schedule with milestones for tracking it and last but not the least, he should be focused on that schedule for that entire period. This schedule becomes the time management plan. One should avoid procrastination and should focus on time management schedule always during online learning and avoid flowing away from schedule because of distractions. Distraction might be because of place or because of browsing internet wasting lot of hours, etc.
Example for this time management is a student enrolled for PMP (Project Management Professional) certification exam. He should first see the syllabus, and then decide on his approach to study for that exam, set a target date for the exam. Then for each knowledge area from syllabus he should decide the timelines basically start-time and end-time and then stick to his time management plan for entire period till the exam is successfully completed.
Effective Communication:
Communication is the most important process in almost every activity in our day to day life and online learning is no exception for the same.
"Developing excellent communication skills is absolutely essential to effective leadership. The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader can't get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn't even matter"(Gilbert Amelio, 1995).
