I am Adopted

In 2002 there were twenty-one thousand four hundred sixty-seven children adopted in the United States (see works cited). Of those children one thousand thirty-one children were adopted in Texas (see works cited). I was one of the children in Texas who were adopted that year. In my experience, my adoption has many benefits, but on the other side of it is confusion and questioning about my biological family.

Growing up I have been blessed with anything and everything a girl could ask for. I was the miracle baby in my family. My mother (Lisa) was told she could not have children, so she decided to adopt. My father (Alan) and Lisa were chosen by my biological mother (Jolene)to raise me. I have always had everything I wanted. Books, toys, clothes, if you could name it then I most likely had it. My family took me in and never gave a second thought to the fact that I was not born into the family. They have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on me to do any activity I desired. For example, I was in competitive cheerleading for ten years and I swear to you it was not cheap. Also, I am now a High School cheerleader and being apart of that is not cheap either.  To this day my parents continue to bless me with all the things I want and need.

Raising me was not an easy duty. I have always been hard to take care of because I deal with depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I am constantly worried about something and I am always stressed. For example, I had a dilemma where I could not find a pair of socks that I had to wear for a football game. I completely freaked out and was worried that I was going to get in a large amount of trouble over a pair of socks. My parents stayed calm through the whole predicament and helped me to find my socks. After the situation happened I was still stressed out; so, they sat me down and helped me calm down. I take medication to help me be more contented and calmer throughout the day. I am very irritable and anxious without my medication. My parents have done all they can to help me with my problems and they are still looking for ways to make me better off and less stressed.
