* What do the code of ethics and the policies or rules and regulations of this employer indicate about the cultural diversity of this workplace?
* As an employer, supervisor, or manager, what circumstances would lead you to refer a culturally diverse employee or client to a supervisor or human resource manager?
* What are your ethical and legal obligations if your workplace or the workplace you selected has no available or appropriate referral sources to assist you with a problem, incident, or concern?
Addiction Professionals of North Carolina (APNC) is a professional organization, which is made up of a wide and diverse group of members of all disciplines and levels of academia. "The members of the organization believe and are dedicated to uphold the worth, dignity, potential, and uniqueness of each individual and thus be of maximum service to society"( APNC.org 1995). Each member is to protect the welfare of those seeking service, with quality and care while staying true to not "misuse their level of skills to harm others" and each member is bound to "protect the public, expose any unethical incompetent and dishonorable practices". There are twelve core principles listed in order as follows: Confidentiality, Competence, Moral and Legal Standards, Public Statements, Professional Relationships and Responsibilities, Non-Discrimination, and Client Relationships, Client Welfare, Societal Obligations, Research and Publication, Remuneration, and Assessment and Evaluation. The core principals speak to the titles of the principle, for example Non-Discrimination- means to not discriminate towards clients or other professionals "period" (APNC.org, 1995)
In this learners work place so far we all our "really on our own to read, gather knowledge, seek trainings, etc. until recently when more clinical, or licensed people where hired to "supervise employees that need "to adhere to the guidelines of these standards. Since this has now taken place the learner/employee receives the assistance and guidance needed to meet the obligations to the client and agency. The learner has also forged personal relationships that are professional and therapeutic to gain outside supervision hours to reach goal of licensure as well as maintain character integrity to "Do No Harm".
