CheckPoint: Code of Ethics
If I were starting my own company, I would have the following listed as my Code of Ethics. I know I would probably add more, but these are the main three that I feel very strongly about and would for sure be the top three on my Code of Ethics.
1. Safety
* Safety needs to be the very first on this list. I feel this way because you could be the very best employee in the whole entire company of 20,000 employees, but if you are not performing your job safely, then nothing else matters. You could have the number one sales in air conditioners, but if you are not installing them with safety and someone gets injured or even looses their life, then what good does your top sales do? If you want to look at it from a financial standpoint even, the company has now lost all the profit you brought them with your top sales and a good percentage on top of that because they are responsible for the costs of the incident and maybe even a law suit.
2. Integrity
* It important to have people working with you who have integrity. This falls into every single task and situation within the company. You need to be able to trust who are running your company in every circumstance.
3. Respect
* If your employees do not respect one another, then they will not able to work with each other. I do not feel that everyone needs to actually respect every single person, but they need to be grown up and mature, put their differences aside, and show respect so that things can move along smoothly without any trouble. If your team cannot work together, then the company and the employees will never thrive.
