Superman vs. Batman
Although Superman's and Batman's differences are vast, they share a common goal of ridding their cities of crime and evil. Since Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster; Bill Finger and Bob Kane of DC Comics created Superman and Batman in the mid to end 1930's, fans have wondered and even argued, who is a better Superhero? With all the arguing and wonder, several topics keep emerging about where they come from, their secret identities, and their particular way of fighting crime.
First, let's talk about Superman. Superman's origin states, the small baby boy, Kal-El jettisoned across the twenty eight known galaxies from the planet Krypton, just barely escaping the demise of his world from the planet's sun exploding. He was sent to the planet Earth, by his father, Jor-El and mother, Lara, he was found by the Kents, Johnathan and Martha, a caring family from Smallville, Kansas. Not being able to have children, they took him in and raised him as one of their own giving him the name Clark. The Kents taught Clark how to be humble and strong in his commitments. Clark would then leave the city of Smallville, after his adoptive Father, Johnathan passed away, to go into the large city of Metropolis. There he would learn just how in need of a hero the city and world are. So he came up with the Man of Steel a superhero that would protect the world from the likes of Alexander (Lex) Luthor, and other such villains and was given the name Superman (Siegel and Shuster, 1938).
People think that Superman is the secret identity of Clark Kent while others feel it's the other way around, that Clark Kent is the alter ego behind the Man of Steel. The two concepts depend on how one looks at it. If they look at him being born with his abilities and learning to be a human than Clark Kent is the secret identity. However, creating the superhero to hide his every day life as Clark Kent is also logical. Here enters the accident prone klutz reporter for the Daily Planet allowing Superman to have a life beyond crime fighting. Clark Kent is so good at making them two totally separate individuals that no one catches on, not even Lois Lane.
Lois Lane, Clark's co-worker at the Daily Planet, was never able to put two and two together that they are the same person, even being the one to be around them both more than anyone else.
Superman's abilities give him a grave edge over his main rival Lex Luthor. There is no way that even with Lex's genius like schemes can match the impeccable strength and virtually indestructible being that is Superman. Not even with the use of Kryptonite, radioactive fragments of Krypton can Lex beat Superman. While mixing it up with Lex from time to time Superman also fights for the little guy, putting criminals away for even the smallest of offenses, like purse snatching.
Batman's origins are completely different from Superman's. Batman was born to, Dr. Thomas and Martha Wayne, a wealthy and upstanding couple in the city of Gotham and given the
