What Color Are You.....?
Colors can have a very strong affect on the human mind and the types of choices we make throughout our day. Color subconsciously plays an immense part in the psychology of humans as it affects every moment of our lives. It can be a major influencing factor in our emotions though it's about clothes we wear, decoration of home, personality, food we like to eat and many other things, and can significantly encourage or bring us down, chiefly when a person links a color with one particular scheme. There is a great possibility to introduce colors in different areas of every day life to give off more liveliness, relaxation, appetites, sexual impulse and even give a place to clean environment.
Color creates influential psychological and physiological effects. People may react differently to the same color, based on their previous experiences or learnt behavior. Psychological effects of color are supported in many researches showing that selection of color matters in everything from hotel rooms to cereal packages. Studies have shown that color affects an individual's moods or feelings in regard to space, weight & size, temperature, time perception, taste, sounds & recovery of sick patient. In recent studies, it has been proven that colors unconsciously enhance brain performance of people depending upon the nature of task. Marketing professor Zhu said that advertisers could take advantage of the unconscious messages that colors communicate to customers by tagging a product in blue to uphold serenity or red to grasp someone's attention.
While perceptions of color are somewhat subjective, there are some color effects that have universal meaning. Colors in the red area of the color spectrum are known as warm colors and include red, orange and yellow. These warm colors evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth and comfort to feelings of anger and hostility. Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, purple and green. These colors are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feelings of sadness or indifference. Interpretations of some of the major colors are as follows:
Red represents excitement, hot, passion, urgency, danger, devil, anger, enrage, amorous, outspoken, optimism and stimulation. It has been known to escalate the body's metabolism with vibrancy and passion and is the most exciting color as it gives the impression of royalty. It is associated with blood, and with feelings that are energetic, exciting, passionate or erotic. Red is known for its high arousal in all perspectives of the body for it is a sexy, dynamic, daring, vital, powerful, warm, sensual, determined, courageous, angry, impatient and ambitious color. People who love red, love life.
Pink is a feminine color, and elicits simple emotions such as unselfish love, kindness, understanding, sympathy, innocence, affection Femininity, sweetness, prime, left-wing and consideration. It is an emotionally soothing and calming, warming, cheerful and nurturing color that lessens the feelings of irritation and aggression by surrounding us with a sense of love.
Orange is widely known as the attention grabber and the stimulator of the mind & body and also releases emotion, alleviates self-pity and self-worth and the unwillingness to forgive. Orange lifts spirits by giving off feelings of security, approachability, informality, warmth, joy, creativity, fun, humor and independence. Wearers of orange are action-oriented, often impatient, confident, creative, adventurous, active, competitive, fun loving, sociable, independent and self-motivated. Being surrounded by orange is mentally and physically stimulating and can make a person feel warm, secure and comfortable.
Yellow alleviates optimism, enlightenment, warmth, cowardice, caution, fearfulness, brightness, energy, and happiness as well as spark creative thoughts. It stimulates the brain making people alert, clear-headed and decisive. It also aids in the powers of discrimination, memory, clear thinking, intellect, decision making, good judgment, optimistic, upbeat, modern organization, assimilation of new ideas and ability to see other perspectives. A person that wears yellow is someone that is easily approachable and desire to find greater happiness which implies minor conflict in which release is needed.
Green is considered the color of peace and ecology. It is the color of freshness, peace, freedom, relaxation, toxicity, artificiality, security, stability, naturalness, health, regeneration, optimism, contentment, harmony, liveliness, friendliness, immaturity, envy, sickness, simplicity, gullible, laziness and evokes a peaceful feeling. Green has a balancing quality that regulates our circulation so it is physically and emotionally good for the heart, so we should seek green under stress. Wearers of green are often cautious, quiet, humanistic and are the types to just observe life and not actually get involved in the action.
