What can a Medical Records Data base offer?

I think having a Medical Data base would have great advantage to some one that wants to search their Medical records from days to months past.

If you went to the doctor or hospital and they posted your blood pressure records and even post the results to your cholesterol. You would be able to have that access if one needed to know what their records were a year ago, they would be able to have access to those records, and would not have to call the physician to get those records. Just being able to know I could go on line and search my Medical data would give me the opportunity to keep up with my records myself.

HIPAA thinks that there would be a down fall to the system of keeping the information private and secure from others getting the information.

But they say they can keep the information of one's privacy secure in the database.

There will only be certain people who will be able to have the access to the patient's information.

If everyone has a pass word or something to identify that they are the correct one gaining the information.

I think if you could use your finger print to gain access to the information then that could be a great way of knowing it is the right person trying to gain that access.

I know when I go to the tanning bed I have to place my finger in the machine and it pulls up my information, so they say not one finger print is the same.

So maybe that would be a great way to know you are the right patient searching you own records.

I believe technology is behind because they want to make sure the system is going to keep the privacy of one's medical records secure and private. They want to keep the HIPAA rules in compliance with what is to protect the patient's and the provider when making changes.
