Water Consumption

Water has many roles in living organisms and life on earth is impossible without it. Water is the most precious gift of nature. It has no taste, no smell and no color. It is found everywhere and is nicknamed with the name of “Life”. Our water is a treasured resource that should be protected. For the sake of families and the survival of future generations, we need to conserve water. Conserving water can save human existence, energy, and natural eco-systems.

Water is one of the worlds most precious resource and is required for human life. We use water for almost everything. We drink it, clean it in, wash clothes in it, and cook with it as well as many other things. Right now, the world is struggling with a water shorter. Imagine it for the next generation. Blogger, Michael Snyder says, “Right now, 1.6 billion people live in areas of the world that are facing “absolute water scarcity.” If more people do not start conserving, that 1.6 billion people can increase. Studies show that, “By 2025, two-thirds of the population of Earth will “be living under water stressed conditions.” This means that water situations will get worse if something is not done about it. If water scarcity continues, future generations may not have unlimited access to water. In order to save us and the upcoming generations we need to conserve water

greatly by reducing the amount that is wasted. We can do this by simple things such as taking shorter showers and turning off the water when brushing teeth.

The second reason the world needs to start saving water is so we can save other resources such as energy. “Studies have shown that in California alone, 6.5 percent of all energy consumed goes towards moving water from one place to another” says Matthew Speer. So saving water in the long run, can also help save energy too. The clean water that flows out of a faucet needs energy in many stages of processing and transport before it gets to the tap. An EPA partnership program called Water Sense says, “Heating water for showering, bathing, shaving, cooking, and cleaning also requires a considerable amount of energy.” People are using water not knowing the effect it has on energy as well. In conclusion, conserving water is also conserving energy for us in the world right now and those to come.

Lastly, the world needs to start taking action in water conservation so natural eco systems and endangered species can be saved. In the article “Water Conservation” Spencer says that “The oceans, streams and lakes that are the lifeblood of so many local eco-systems are used as dumping grounds, hurting everything that relies on these water sources.” We use oceans and lakes to convert into fresh water. When those water sources are contaminated, we cannot use that water safely. An online conservation
