Most people look up to a hero like Superman and Spiderman. A lot of people don't realize that the real hero is usually someone no one expects "the hero is always a hero by mistake" by Umberto eco proves that the hero isn't always the one with superpowers. Umberto Eco quote is proven in the Outsiders by S.E. hinton and Rebecca by Daphane De Maurier. These two authors give the true examples that the under dog can succeed. To be a hero takes a lot of guts and in both books the main charters show that you don't have to fit the "super hero mold". All you need is courage and compassion to save anybody who needs saving.
Hero's are born in times of darkness. A true hero is driven by impulse not fame. Before running into the burning building to saw the kids Johnny from the outsiders doesn't think about the conciseness before running into the building. The only thing that went through his head is that he couldn't let the kid die so his impulse took action before he though about it. That's what made him a hero. It was unexpected because he was in a gang and that's not what kids in a gang should do however that what made him the unexpected hero The author uses flashback to tell the readers the whole story what happened to Johnn and why he did it. Unlike Johnny, Maxium didn't act on impulse to save other people he did it to save himself.
In Rebecca by Daphine Du Maurier Maxium has just suffered from the death of his wife when he falls in live with the narrator. The whole book is told in flashback and the narrator is overpowered by the "ghost" of Rebecca because she thinks her new husband is still in love with his dead wife. However it isn't until the end of the book that we find out Max killed his wife Rebecca because he hated her. We find out that there marriage was all just fro show and Rebecca was in love with her cousin jack. Max got annoyed with them one day and when he wanted to kill jack he wasn't there he found Rebecca. When they where in a fight Rebecca mentioned that she wanted to have an baby with jack and that's when Max lost control and killed her. Although max didn't know it then he soon realized that he was a hero for killing Rebecca because with her dead she could stop causing pain to other peoples lives and that's what made max an unexpected hero because even though he killed someone he still managed to help people
In Both books you see unexpected hero's because even though the became a hero in a stage way people would have suspected them being hero's because they didn't have heroic powers and the true meaning behind being a hero is helping other people because you wanted to and not because you wanted attention
