The Russian Revolution

The Russian revolution occurred in 1917. The main leaders during it were Stalin, Lenin, and Trotsky. The Major events that occurred during the Russian Revolution relate very much to the events in the book Animal Farm by George Orwell. Most of the characters in this book also relate to the leaders in the Russian revolution in some sort of way.
Communism was huge and extremely important during the Russian Revolution. Communism is a social order based on the equal distribution of wealth. "The capitalist nations, he argued, allowed the wealthy few to amass huge fourtunes while the numerous poor toiled in unsafe factories for low wages" (turner learning). That basically means that Communism treats and gives all of their people equality. "Marx spoke of the drawing of a new social order based on the equal distribution of wealth and possessions" (turner learning). Marx believed in a system based on everybody being equal in wealth, land, and goods. The amin Ideal of communism was to become more like Marxism and Leninism.
Between 1900 and 1918 there was much happening in Russia. "As the 20th centry approached, Russia lingered in the past" (turner learning). That means that while European countries had already started he process of industrialization, Russia still remained "old fashioned" with no new technology. "From the beginning of the conflict Russia was outmatched. Money, food, and raw materials flowed out of their country to support the war effort" (turner learning). Further explaining Russia was outmatched during WWI. They lost the majoriety of their land and goods. The Russian people were dying of starvation and of disease.
The first few years of communism started out a little rough, mainly because not everyone was in favor of it. " the soviets formed the 'Red Army' and began a terror campaign which identified and executed suspected anti-communists" (turner learning). This means that Anybody who was against communism was killed. "some wondered wether the communist revolution had already been betrayed: how could tranquilty come to the Russian nation now that so many citizens have been killed?" (turner learning). Many people were starting to doubt their new form of government. The first years of communism were rough but the people were forced to follow it.
Trotsky was an intellectual and a visionary who had high hopes for Russia. " where Trotsky dreamed, stalin focused instead on administrative duties" (turner learning). Trotsky was a brilliant speaker and writer. He was ver passionet about communism, while stalin was quick minded, he was not in trotsky's caliber when it came to public speaking and writing. "He was an intellectual giant and a formidable opponent for stalin" (turner learning). When Trotsky spoke he did so with such command that he gained many loyal followers..
