The Goal assignment #1
After reading chapter one, I have learned three important things. First of all, It is a large possibility about a plant stop operating just because of there is a component of a part have not been processed or out of stock, and there is no way to carry out the whole assembly lines. As results, some delays will happen in the production line. Thus, a plant should make some strategic reserves about some key components. In the book, author stated, "Based on observation, I'd say this plant has four ranks of priority for orders: Hot... Very Hot... Red Hot...and Do It NOW!" and "Finally it's determined almost all parts needed are ready and waiting--stacks of them. But they can't be assembled. One part of some sub-assembly is missing; it still has to be run through some other operation yet."
Second, Mr. Peach had a bad treatment to deal with customer's complaints, because he was too hot-tempered. He commanded the other people. After the crisis happened, he was not clam enough to solve this issue, which led to the resignation of skilled workers for revenge and made Mr. Rogo's plant into chaos. It would cost huge amount of time and final cost.
Third, if a plant becomes the weakest part in the chain of a group of company, this company cannot escape from closing down or merging. In the real world, it happens all the time. For example, my father had a friend who operated a plant to produce metal part for some Korean vehicle manufacture, like KIA, Hyundai. He had a great general manager from Korea and a perfect sales team, but lack of efficiency of his plant workers made his plant became the weakest part of whole supply chain. After few years, his plant always could not delivery their products on time, his whole company had been merged by another big one.
