1. Write a summary of “ The Fox Cub”

Maria is new in the village and is still exciting to be with. Maria is 13 years old. Maria meets Rachel on the playing field. Maria is embarrassing to talk to because she asks Rachel if she has been with a boy. Maria invites Rachel her home to sees her fox. Rachel says yes. They come home to Maria and Rachel sees Maria lives on a farm and she cannot believed it. Maria goes into the house and Rachel waiting outside, she heard a man ask her who she is. She gets scared and hopes Maria soon will be back. They go behind the house to the cage where the fox is and talk with the fox. While sitting there comes Maria's cousin comes and teases them. Rachel gets scared and wants to go home. After that day Maria didn’t came to the playing field again.

1. Characterize Maria

She goes usual sloppy shoes and baggy blue cardigan. And she does not have a bike or some skates. She wears lipstick smeared all over her face. It tells us a little about her family that does not have the money so they can buy something new for her. She is a person that not is afraid of what she does and says and it is probably because she has always lived on the farm with men. She also lives on a street as the others do not know and know where is. It is probably because it is not in the nice neighborhood. Also she has been with a boy of 16 years. It may say little about that she spent too much time with boys. And not are that girlish like a girl should be. She behaves very manly at some points. For example the way she talks to her cousin

1. Comment on the differences between Rachel and Maria

Maria and Rachel are very different. Maria is not afraid to talk about sex and to be with guys even though they are only 13 years old. Rachel thinks it is too dirty for her and she would rather not talk about it. She does not think her mother to allow her to be with Maria if she knew how Maria is. She is to open and a bit too far ahead than perhaps she should and for her age. Maria does not have some of the cool things, such as a bike or skates. Her clothes are not modern and she cannot figure out lie lipstick on herself. Which perhaps suggests she does not do it very often. Rachel feels very uncomfortable being at home at Maria with the two men who are not talking nice to each other. It has Maria probably always been used to.
