One of the greatest assets a man can and should have in his life is "Health. Its importance can only be revealed from those who suffer from disease. Ask a person who suffers from cancer, tumor or diseases which are impossible to cure. It is only health that makes the person wealth in all form of life.
The disorder in the nervous system is regarded as Brain Disorder or Neurological Disorder. Abnormalities such as structural, biochemical or electrical may lead to symptoms of brain disorder which causes a person to suffer from paralysis, weaknesses, loss of sensation and more. Some of the disorders are common but relatively many are rare. Parkinson is one of the neurological disorders that occur mostly in old ages. This disease is named after English doctor James Parkinson. People suffering from this disease not only experience physical disorder but also mental disorder. A person not only feels difficulty in movement but also feels depressed according to the research of National Institutes of Health. Around one million of Americans suffers from such disorder.
When a person makes movement, signals from the parts transferred to the brain where it travels to a region which is known as striatum which interacts with the other areas of the brain such as the substantia nigra, globus pallidus, and thalamus to send out signals that control balance and coordination. These signals received by the cerebellum which controls the coordination of muscles. Molecules that are responsible for carrying signals through brain and spinal cord are known as neurotransmitter. The neurotransmitters are released due to the stimulation of sacs into the gaps between neurons known as synapse. The movement causes by the contraction of the muscle fiber due to its stimulation on having signals from the neurotransmitter.
Parkinson Disease affects the substantia nigra area which contains set of neurons responsible for transmitting signals known as Dopamine. The signal travels to the striatum and hence controls the normal movements of the body. When the PD destroys the dopamine pathways, the dopamine losses make a person impossible to balance his movement. According to the researches, the annihilation of these neurons is due to the lewy bodies present in substantia nigra, brainstem and other parts of the brain.
Parkinson patients experiences tremors in different parts of the body. Their hands, legs usually tend to shake when they are at rest. Stiffness in the muscles makes the patient difficult to bend legs, arms and neck. One of the symptom of PD is that person loses it balance during movement that affects the way of walking. PD may causes patient to suffer mental disorder in form of depression. Patient feels he/she is not capable of doing anything.
