The Beauty

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched ... but are felt in the heart." - Helen Keller

Helen Keller was born without the ability to see and hear. Although she lacked the senses that many take advantage of, she was able to envision the beauty of the world through a different point of view, her heart. I believe the heart is the sixth sense: the eyes allow us to see, the hands and feet allow us to touch, the nose allows us to smell, the mouth allows us to speak, the ears allow us to hear, and the heart allows us to feel. With the heart, we are able to feel emotions that are indescribable. As human beings, we are able to feel love, happiness, anger, jealousy, sadness, joy, and a variety of other emotions. The ability to sense and comprehend these emotions are what set human beings apart from other species. Emotions cannot be seen nor touched; it can only be felt with the heart. As Helen has described in her quote, the most beautiful and best feeling in the world is love.

When we feel love, we get a tingly warm fuzzy feeling inside that instantaneously brings a smile upon our face. Love is a feeling that is beyond words. It comes in many shapes and forms. Love may be towards a significant other, family members, friends, pets, hobbies, and many others. With love, people are able to see the world through a positive outlook and see the beauty in the simplest things. Those who feel love are able to over look flaws and turn imperfection into perfection. The eyes may literally see an attraction towards another and feel lust. But the heart distinguishes the beauty within a person and feels love. According to Tenzin Gyatso, the fourteenth Dali Lama, he describes the feeling of love by stating, "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace." With love, people are able to experience joy, happiness, and peace. There are two things in life that makes humans happy or sad- positive things and negative things. The power of love gives us the ability to view life through a positive outlook. They are able to find the beauty within each person and everything they do. If we concentrate on the negative things in life, it only brings us despair, sadness, and misery. By using love as a power source, finding the splendor in life would make each person happier, which is indeed, the best and most feeling in the world that can only be seen with the heart.

Helen Keller's ability to use her heart to see the beauty in life is something everyone should take into account. Society has blinded people to
