Analyzing and argumentative essay

- Ms.Collins, today I'm not prepared for the lesson

- But why? According to the article I gave you to read and write a summary you are going to have a short quiz at the end of today's class. Do you have a strong excuse; otherwise I have to put you F and exclude from my course. You have missed a lot of classes and in addition to this you are not doing your home assignments.

- No, there is no a strong excuse. I forgot to do it.

- Then without an exception I exclude you from my course. This is your third F and as it is written in syllabus I have all rights to exclude you. You have disappointed me, Kate. You are smart, intelligent, always were active in classes, but last two month you have perfectly changed.

Kate wept bitterly and left the class. While leaving the class she whispered to herself something. She blamed her parents who divorced couple of years ago and since that time she was forced to work because her father left her and her mother.

"College Pressures" is an article written by American writer, educator, and film critic William Zinsser, where he describes the problems the students face due to the high academic expectations. He clearly explains that many students may undergo pressures from their parents, roommates. William Zinsser also does not exclude the point that a lot of students are ruining their health by spending days and nights in libraries, working on computers in order to satisfy the expectations of professors, parents and others. This article grabbed my attention considering I'm also a student and might have the same difficulties. The writer enumerates four main kinds of pressure the students may face as they enter the college realm: economic pressure, parental pressure, peer pressure and self-induced pressure. Economic and parental pressures are the most actual in my cases. Zinsser shows his understanding of the students but call on them to stop being leveled on others, that each of them is a different person, starting from a different point and bound for a different destination, and I absolutely support his idea.

Nowadays many college students are exposed parental pressure. Some students have to deal with majors they do not really want, but are obliged, because the parents so have told. Parents are the most sacramental people in our life who will always be around us and support anytime we need, thus we should recon with their opinion."The parents mean well; they are trying to steer their sons and daughters toward a secure future"-states the William Zinsser. I absolutely agree that the parents never wish their children the bad and try to put all their effort to the bright future of their kids, but they should avoid building the wall between the child and his choice. There are many examples when the students are under their parent's pressure. Excessive sports practice is one manifestation of a parent exerting too much pressure. It can be done under the guise of winning scholarships, but it is the parent trying to push the child to fulfill some vicarious need of the parent.Sometimes parents force their children to have music, art classes. I can bring myself as an example. When I was a little kid I was forced to take piano classes, because my parents wanted so. Another example when parents press on their children to study well, as a result the students undergoes self-induced pressure. They spend days and nights reading books in order to satisfy parent's expectations consequently have no leisure time and become self-contained.

Economic pressure is another kind of pressure a
