Soil erosion is the removal of the topsoil faster than the soil forming process can replace it. This is caused by natural, animal, or human activity. In the last 150 years half the Earths topsoil has deteriorated. And studies show that it is continuing to deteriorate at a even faster rate.
Many things have been affected due to soil erosion, such as loss of fertile land, pollution has increased such as the pollution of lakes, watercourses, and wetlands, and the land that is already degrading is less able to hold onto to water which can make flooding worse on land. It also reduces cropland productivity. Also it may cause economic damage such as building being destroyed which will then result to casualties (which I have been seeing on the news lately).
Overgrazing is when the grassland is so heavily and the ground become liable to erosion. To prevent overgrazing producers suggests that you monitor when to move the animals to a new pasture based on the green stuff that’s left after grazing (residual plant material). Overcultivate means to exhaust by excessive cultivation. In other words the farmers over cropped the land. To prevent Overcultivation farmers can stop over farming, start replenishing their soil, and also pay attention to salinization (when water soluble accumulates in the soil). This is also a major problem in my city in the grasslands. Deforestation is the permanent destruction of forest in order to use the land for something else. Such as the Amazon which is 1.4 billion acres of nothing but forest. The forest contains 140 metric tons of the carbon which helps stabilize local and global climates. Deforestation will release most of the climate which could have major consequences around the world. Things that can be don’t to prevent deforestation is to go paperless, recycle and also buying recycled products, planting trees, and also eat less vegetarian meals. 3 of these tips I listed are some we are doing in my community to help save plants and wild life.
