Software Recommendation
Looking into software for the three required systems that PPQ utilizes, these are MRP, CRP, and ERP. Many software companies designed software that focus on one of these technological systems, but there are other software companies who have designed software that actually covers all three, and in my opinion would help streamline the operation from one system to the next. Instead of having multiple software companies handle one specific aspect.
Researching these software companies was difficult as there are many great programs written by great teams. My list of quality software systems include.
* EFACS Enterprise
* Mosaic 21
* Net Suite
* Oracle
* Panorama Consulting
* MetaSystems
Four out of the following software programs only had a program written for one of the systems needed. With the coverage of only one system I eliminated these programs from the list of possible programs to utilize at PPQ.
With research of each software company and the program they offer the search was narrowed down to one program that was user friendly, and covered all three systems that needed to be addressed. The software chosen was EFACS. This program was well written, and allows its users to fully develop production plans, then a quality management plan to apply the production planning into operation. EFACS utilizes a Master Production Schedule and RCCP, which in turn allows PPQ to keep control of planned, actual, standard, and going-to costs readily available (Rad, 2013).
Material Requirements Planning is covered comprehensibly by the MRP module within the software, which provides a complete breakdown of the required component parts, and materials, which also provides a forward horizon by regenerative methods. The factors utilized in creating the requirements plan are the master production schedules, purchase orders, forecasts, customer schedules, work orders, sales orders, and works in progress, and the bills for materials, lastly current stock levels. MRP is used where the company mainly handles its raw materials and or assembly lines. MRP can be utilized with MPS as well to provide an in depth look and control over the production plan. Applying the MRP software to PPQ will allow for parts, and materials needed will be available in the correct amounts, as well as the correct times in order to provide a consistent manufacturing plan. The module also looks into PPQ's demand which includes, planned, and actual orders, order forecasts, and schedules. This ensures PPQ of achieving the long term goals they have set in the management plan (Rad, 2013).
Capacity Requirement Planning is covered extensively with EFACS the CRP module takes on the main
