Should he appoint Shin Takagi as vice president of CME?

Sony Europa was at a stage where the implementation of the Big Bang was still unclear to the country managers, so it was quite clear for the position of vice president of CME, one must not just support the changes but also communication   the implementation to their subordinate clearly. Shin Takagi, current country manager of UK, has undisputed qualification and he has clearly expressed his reservations about the changes done by the company. Shin Takagi is a right person for the job as his opinions of some changes is quite rational and need of the hour.

The implementation of Big Bang in reality had some loops which has to change for achieving the very motive behind reorganization. The company has to optimize its Sony Europa as one entity instead of twenty two autonomous companies. The company also needs to change the role of country manager, they should be accountable for line-up decisions, pricing, advertising and promotions, purchasing and inventory management so that only one person clearly negotiate with Sony Headquarters in Japan.  The consumer sales should not be directly reported to the COO, but to the country manger first so that they could integrate the marketing activities at bottom level first.

Shin Takagi’s vision was to correct these loopholes in the reorganizational changes. He was in the opinion that over- centralization, as every country’s customer and market is different which needs to be taken care of, centralization would not amend according to the particular market and company than locals. The line-up meeting was done by country manager instead of consumer marketing which is better as country manager has defined roles assign to them.

Sony Europa need a heavy personality who can pursue his agendas which bring the intentions of the changes made.
