1. What are the positive and negative aspects of each personality theory?

As we all know, there are five main personality theories, they are: trait approaches, biological factors, psychodynamic perspective, social - cognitive perspective, and humanistic perspective. Each of the personality theory has its positive and negative side. This report will inform you some essential information about the strengths as well as the weaknesses of them, so that you can apply them well in daily life and in your job.

The first theory about personality is trait approaches. It is a summary term that describes the tendency to behave, feel, and think in ways that are consistent across different situations. There are five major traits in this section, including: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience. There are about 4,500 words remained in the English dictionary that describe about personality (Allport & Odbert, 1936). There may be lots of definitions about personality, but on the positive and negative scale, there are five main degrees. I sum up all the positive and negative aspects of trait approaches here so you can understand easily. This contain just a little bit of the examples because we cannot have enough the ability to give you all the answer you need.

So the table above is the best way for you to realize the positive as well as the negative aspects of the trait approaches. If you can understand it clearly, you can apply it into daily life to improve your performance in any stage of life.

The second theory is about biological factors in personality. Since the moment you were born, biology has influenced your behavior in ways that may have seemed insignificant then, but are more relevant now. In addition to biological factors, both common and unique life experiences help shape your personality. Psychologists agree that environmental factors interact with genetic factors to form personality. The positive of this theory is that, because personality is genetic, the child will inherit the good personalities from their parents. Their personality will also be affected by the environment they are living in. So as long as everything is good, they will form a good foundation for personality for themselves. However, this is also a negative aspect. Because of that, we must only let our children learn the good things in life. They must learn to know the level of importance as well as how to set goal to perform well and achieve the best.
