Pros Legal Abortion

Abortions should be legal for all women choose the option if they wish. A women's body is her own and no one should make the choice of what to do with it but her. Women have fought for their right to make their own choices and the government should not be allowed to take that right away from them. Twenty states have taken it upon themselves to be unconstitutional and placed an unenforceable ban that could make abortions illegal from as early as 12 weeks of pregnancy, even if it will protect a women's own health. ("Naral Pro-Choice America", n.a). In 1992, the Supreme Court stated "it is the women's right to have an abortion, if she so chooses" based on the Roe vs. Wade case. (Hardy, pg. 189). When it comes to women who are victims of incest or rape, should they be for forced to carry out their pregnancy and relive the ordeal every day? Giving women the right to have an abortion doesn't mean that that will be the choice that they will choose. One thing that would change is more women die by unsafe abortions. The statement "Life starts at the time of conception" is an emotional belief and is not a proven fact. While, the hope is to improve access to birth control and teach young people with ample sex education will decrease the need for abortions.
