Should Abortion be legal, I think it should
Should abortion be legal, I think it should be. Some people would say no and others would say yes, well I say that abortion should be legal and that is because if someone really wanted to terminate her pregnancy there is nothing you can do to stop her, so why not have a place where it is safe for her to get it done. Some people call it murder, others may think it is a way to stop a big change that a person can or may not be ready for. Others are against it for reason such as religion, but it say abortion should be legal and I have a couple of reason why. Women need a place to go and that is safe if they feel that abortion is necessary, it is better to have a place for it, then for someone to look at other means of it.
If a pregnancy happens from rape or incest, they should have the choice to terminate if wanted, it also is a part of women rights. Why do people feel that abortion should be illegal, why are people involving themselves in another person's life when they have no say so in it, why do people fell that having an abortion is murder? There are many answers to all of these questions, but which ones really matter. For some people it is ethical reasons, some people believe it is capital punishment, some are morals and for others it is religion. But who is to say what a person does to his or her own body is wrong? Is it the people, is it the courts or is it the law, it is all of the them.
Abortion is one of the most controversial and important subjects of this generation. 1 in every 4 fetus of our generation is not living because they were killed before they were born. There are even voting blocks that vote purely according to the abortion issue. Abortion has affected many people in many ways, broken up families, ended relationship and caused people to do things they normally would not have done. I myself know someone who has had an abortion and they came to me and asked my opinion on it. I was honest and true, I told them that I am not against it nor am I for it, but make the decision that is best for you, but this is a decision that you will have to live with for the rest of your lives.
They thought about it for a few days and then went through with it, even though it put them a mental and physical strain they both felt that it was the best decision for them. Abortion is nothing to play with and is to be taken seriously, but whose is to say that having a baby at that time is best. What if having a baby would make your life even worse than what is already when you are poor and nowhere to go, but each person's situation is different. "1 out of every 6 women has had abortions, nearly half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and about four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion. Twenty-two percent of all pregnancies (excluding miscarriages) end in abortion" (Institute, 2011).
Most people do not even know how abortions were even started, abortion started a long time ago. Abortion, the practice of terminating a pregnancy, is as old as pregnancy itself. Though pregnancy should be a happy occasion, circumstances of life often complicate matters. "Abortion is often presented as if it were new, cutting-edge, scientific--a product of the modern era--when it is, in fact, as old as recorded history. The earliest known description of abortion comes from the Ebers Papyrus (ca. 1550 BCE), an ancient Egyptian medical text drawn, ostensibly, from records dating as far back as the third millennium BCE. The Ebers Papyrus suggests that an abortion can be induced with the use of a plant-fiber tampon coated with a compound that included honey and crushed dates" (Head, 2011).
Egyptians were the first people to come up with having abortions and they used herbs and leaves to terminate their pregnancy. There are many reasons for a person to have an abortion, it all just depends on what that person's life is like what they are going though, there mental state and finances. There have been many debates throughout time over abortion and whether or not if it should be legal or not and there have been many cases where some battles in court were won and where others were lost. But when it all comes down to it, when getting an abortion, it is all up to the people who are getting it.
Now, there are some people that believe abortion should not be legal because they feel it is immoral. They say that abortion is immoral because killing a fetus is just as bad as killing anyone else. If one has an abortion, one is depriving the fetus of a possible life. Life of love, happiness and all sorts of experiences, activities and enjoyment.
