1. When the mother goes full term with triplets, she may suffer from hypertension, anemia, or preeclampsia, along with increased strain on her circulatory and endocrine systems. There are risks involving the abortion of two or more of the fetuses. The uterine is breached, so this creates many problems for the mother, first being infection. The risk of loosing all the fetuses may cause severe stress and lead to depression.
2. I think Ms. Q and her husband are responsible for the problems in this article. They knew the risks and percent increase of multiple gestations. If they were provided counseling the responsibility of these problems lies with them. In the case of Nadya Suleman, she and her doctor are both responsible for the problems.
3. I think Ms. Q is being selfish and came to this decision on her own. She says that she wants to be a good mother and can't be if there are three babies. This is being selfish and she doesn't even mention her families' input. Ms. Suleman's only motivation to give birth to 8 more children is to be a media queen. She wants attention and maybe financial gain. She also knows that she and her babies will be supported by the government and she will not have to work.
4. Clomid is an infertility drug used to make the woman have a better ovulation and release more eggs.
5. The doctor's pledge to give life and not take life would cause him to refer Ms. Q to another doctor. I think this is a professional choice because it is not his responsibility to take life when the risks and situation was previously reviewed with Ms Q. She knew what she was getting into and then wants to terminate. It is not the doctor's responsibility to comply with this unacceptable request.
