Personal Goal

One of the major missions of the management function is setting goals. There could be two kinds of goals and they are the Managers has to set goals for themselves and at the same time coaching has to given for the employees to set their goals. Employees will have a dual relationship with department and organization in developing these goals. This will end up in the evolvement of a structure and discipline of both them and the organization . Setting smart goals help to attain most any goal that set based on certain steps and developing a time frame. This article will present the personnel, professional and educational goals and the development level of the skills of the author.
Personal Goal
My personal goal is to lose 20 pound in 12 months. My specific goal is to lose 20 pounds. I will start measure my weight routinely on a specific day in every week. If I am on strict diet and regular exercise this goal is attainable. I have to be realistic with myself about how much time and effort to be put into reaching the goal. The goal of 20 lb is 10 % of my body weight and losing that much is less realistic. My goal is timely and it should be achieved in 12 months.
Educational Goal
My educational goal is to graduate from GCU in May 2014, with a GPA of 3.5. Getting an MBA in 2 years is the goal and the grades are measurable. Hard work and motivation will help to attain this goal .This is a realistic goal and at the same time results oriented too. I set the time for the goal as 2 years.
Professional Goal
My professional goal is to become an effective manger for a critical care unit of a leading hospital. I am proved as successful RN and an RN supervisor. But proceeding to management is a challenge and responsibility. My current strategies are to maintain a constant connection with the staff by proper communication and to be consistent with all the staff members. To achieve this goal I plan staff monthly staff meetings and use of department email and this will help to obtain suggestions and concerns from the employees. My plan is be open in communication and I will make sure my employees will here from me about the department issues and changes and achievements. Manger has to coach the employees in setting clear goals and expectations and rewarding their team when they have achieved the goal with effort and team work. My goal is to keep all the members under one umbrella based on policies and procedures and also practice guide lines. Another strategy I have to develop is trust in others. The managers should not micromanage and they should have confidence in their team. The professional growth of the employees is also the responsibility of a manager. They will be sending for trainings and other educational opportunities will be implemented. I rate my skill as D3which means I have good competency but varying level of commitment
