According to Dr. Nicholas Romanov, the creator of the Pose Method, delves deeper into the nature of perception. Perception is “limitless,” and it is the one thing we can change and develop. Perception can help to make decisions about your running by comparing it to the model and providing feedback. Perception is a set of internal sensational cognitive processes of the brain at the subconscious cognitive function layer that detects, relates, interprets, and searches internal cognitive information in the mind. Perception may be considered as the sixth sense of human beings since almost all cognitive life functions rely on it. Perception is also an important cognitive function at the subconscious layers that determines personality. In other words, personality is a faculty of all subconscious life functions and experience cumulated via conscious life functions. It is recognized that a crucial component of the future generation computers known as the cognitive computers is the perceptual engine that mimic the natural intelligence (Wang, 2006).
Besides, measures of perceptions have an important role to play in evaluating complex situations because they allow for objective stressors and their appraisal within the social environment, as well as linking cognitions with affective and behavioural components (Eiser, 1986). Individuals are constantly bombarded by environmental stimuli that impact their senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. People see the world around them in their own unique way and behave and respond according to their interpretation. Perception can be measured through psychophysical approach. According to Gescheider (2001), Psychophysics is an exact science of the fundamental relations of dependency between body and mind. It is a set of theories about the relationship between physical and mental phenomena and in particular about how our sensory systems function. The concern of the Psychophysicist are bias or criterion, attentiveness, strategy or artifactual cues, history of stimulation and who controls stimulation. Three methods of measuring perception are magnitude estimation, matching and also detection or discrimination.
In addition, perception is one of the main field of application of psychophysical methods and has helped to address many issues. For example, is perception veridical? , how precise / accurate is perception? , can different sensory modalities interact? And can perceptual mechanisms be modified? Psychophysics define a set of methods to measure sensory thresholds. Absolute threshold such as “What is the smallest stimulus intensity that can be perceived?” For the difference threshold such as “What is the smallest difference between two stimuli that can be perceived?” Generally, Psychophysical or psychological scaling methods used to measure sensations or perceptions. For example “How intense / beautiful / likable is this or that object / thing?” Psychophysical methods
