Insights about the 2012 Apocalypse
One famous controversy roaming the world today is about the end of the world on December 21, 2012 or simply called "the Apocalypse." This event was deciphered from the last parts of the uncovered ancient Mayan calendar. According to the calendar, the world would undergo great changes during the said date. This information greatly affected the mindsets of many people, and it was widely misinterpreted due to the shock it gave to the world. Even though this event has no concrete evidence of ever occurring, it has awakened the senses of many people about the world they are living on.

Because of that, the false information became more widespread and more people were frightened as the movie depicted cataclysmic damage simultaneously happening around the world at the said date.
Several theories, including the one in the movie, were developed in accordance to verifying the probability of the event to happen. One theory was about the Sun undergoing its maximum activity and violently sending off huge amounts of particles and radiation that could obliterate the magnetic field of the Earth causing unbelievable results. Another theory was about the belief of a celestial body they dubbed as "Planet X" crossing beside the orbit of Earth at dangerous distances that could cause gravitational problems and even collide with the planet itself. As for the movie 2012, the events show the abrupt disturbance in the Earth's core due to unknown reasons and caused the chaotic end of surface life. As stated earlier, the movie piqued the interest of many through its use of high-technology filming techniques to depict the event as realistic as possible, and it was successful not just by having a good amount of income but it also did a good job of making the people become paranoiacs.
My opinion about the controversy is that I do not believe in the proposition of the world getting destroyed in the blink of an eye. Being a Christian, I have more support about the events stated in the Book of Revelations where God, Himself, appears to judge the living and changes the worldly rules for the best. There is also the fact that the scientific statements would not be absolutely true since they just theories. Scientists would have also discovered these signs because the present technology is far more advanced than it was years ago. But this does not mean that I am forcing my ideas to be
