There is an epidemic that is growing faster and faster year by year. This disease is not Aids, HIV. This type of disease, it is obesity. Obesity is not just physical it is also a psychological state of being. If you think fat, you eat fat, and then it is safe to say that you are fat. There are many ways to conquer obesity such as diet and exercise. However many people do not know, nor understand how to try start to trying to overcome obesity, nor understand the risk if it their ways do not change.

There are many different risks when being obese for example Coronary Heart Disease, Diabetes, and Hypertension. Coronary heart disease or CHD is the narrowing of the blood vessels, which supply blood and oxygen to the heart. Someone diagnosed with diabetes means that they have a high blood sugar level which can lead to blurry vision, fatigue, and frequent urination. Hypertension is high blood pressure which may lead to a stroke or heart attack. "It's a bitter truth to swallow: About every fourth person on Earth is too fat. Obesity is fast becoming one of the world's leading reasons why people die...We're even seeing obesity in adolescents in India now. It's universal. It has become a fully global epidemic - indeed, a pandemic" (The Associated Press 2004). The diseases mentioned within this paragraph occur because of obesity, and obesity is caused by a lack of exercise.

There are many different ways to lose fat besides exercise as some call it the "easy way out", or surgery but is it truly the easy way out? Gastric Bypass surgeries, Liposuction are the two surgeries used to get rid of excess fat in problem areas. Gastric Bypass surgery or stomach stapling is a type of surgery when the surgeon makes the stomach smaller and makes the food "bypass" the small intestine, therefore you feel full off of food quicker than before (Academic Search Complete 2011). Although this sounds like an easy process it is not because there are many risks behind using this easy way out option. People who undergo the procedure are at risk of their stomach stretching, the staples falling apart, the stomach acid leaking and the acid which may eat the other organs, the stomach's fluids are moving to rapidly through the small intestines causing nausea, sweating and worst of all diarrhea right after eating. Liposuction is removing excess fat from under the skin. People who undergo this procedure may have a few complications such as: bad bruising, inflammation; fluid may continue to come out of where the incisions are; Thrombophlebitis which is a blood clot formed in a vein causing inflammation of that particular vein, Contour irregularities, numbness, many different infections, internal organ punctures, death, kidney and/or heart problems, pulmonary embolism which is when fat gets into the blood vessels and blocks the lungs, pulmonary edema- when fluid gets into the lungs, an allergic reaction, skin burns, and lidocaine toxicity (Academic Search Complete 2011).. Exercise is doing physical activity to stay in shape or to lose weight. There is a very short list of risks there are for exercising. Only complications someone has when exercising are cardiovascular and musculoskeletal risks, but if you warm-up correctly beforehand and do some cool down exercises afterwards these things will be prevented easily. With this being said exercise along with a healthy diet is the ONLY easy way out of obesity (Netdoctor 2009).

Just exercising and dieting are not the only ways of
