Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a non-violent activist who also was a preacher that fought for the equality for all people. He was married to Coretta Scott King and the father of four children. Dr. King was a passionate individual and found enjoyment in fighting for equality of those individuals that were wronged. Dr. King was the father of four children and also was married to Coretta Scott King. Although he was a father of four, a husband, a doctor, and a reverend of a church Dr. King was able to be active within his community.
Martin Luther King Jr. handled the situations he was faced with very well. While faced with adversity and also having his life threatened and the lives of his family he continued to handle things in a peaceful manner.
Dr. King had many contributions that he made to society. He led African Americans in the 1955-56 bus boycotts. In 1957, he served as the president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Dr. King in 1963 led many non-violent civil right movements in Birmingham Alabama. The March on Washington which was led by Dr. King also in 1963 drew over a million people." It was at this march that Dr. King delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, which cemented his status as a social change leader and helped inspire the nation to act on civil rights. Dr. King was later named Time magazine's "Man of the Year ("The King Center ", 2012)." In 1964, Dr. King won a Nobel peace prize at a very young age because of his hard work.
Although there were numerous leaders in the civil rights battle, Martin Luther King Jr. stood out amongst the rest. King was recognized as a man who rose as a national inspiration in the history of modern American liberalism, a civil rights leader and is best known for his role in the innovation of civil rights using nonaggressive civil insubordination. The "I Have A Dream" speech given by Martin Luther King captivated the hearts of individuals supporting the Civil Rights cause. His solutions and ideas were implemented widely and had a huge impact on rights among the White and Black America. In 1950 King and the NAACP assisted in the "Brown v. Board of Education," in Topeka, Kansas, which led to the acceptance of Black Americans in all White public schools (PBS, 2001). Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. should be included in any list of important creative thinkers because he "had a dream," that combined with intelligence and persistence, helped the United States become more accepting toward minority groups.
Steven Spielberg and Grace Hopper, Quintin Tarantino, and Martin Luther King Jr. were all innovative, which is similar to all creative thinkers. However, Dr. King draws his inspiration from experience and religion.
