Luke
Luke is a gospel book of the New Testament. The key points and purposes of the book of Luke are to tell of the birth of Jesus Christ, along with his life and the miracles he performed. Luke begins by detailing the angel Gabriel visiting a man named Zacharias and informing him that his barren wife Elizabeth would give birth to a son named John. From there, Luke explains the conception of Jesus Christ. He speaks of Gabriel's visit to the Virgin Mary, and of how Jesus will be mankind's salvation. The next section depicts the birth of Jesus and Jesus' lineage. After detailing Jesus' birth, Luke speaks of Jesus' childhood, and then of his ministry once he is grown. His baptism is chronicled, along with the many miracles he performed. The most commonly known miracle performed by Jesus in the gospel of Luke is the feeding of the multitudes. Jesus fed five thousand men with five loaves of bread and two fish. Next, Luke explains the gift of salvation, teaches us how to pray and repent for our sins, and reaffirms that Jesus is the indeed the Son of God. The gospel of Luke concludes with the story of Jesus' execution and resurrection from the dead.
Colossians
One of the New Testament epistles is the book of Colossians, written by the apostle Paul. Colossians was written with the intent of explaining the nature of Jesus Christ. In the first chapter of Colossians, it is stated that the epistle was impelled by a messenger of the name Epaphras. He spoke of a new religion that was becoming prominent in Colosse and was deeply troubled. Paul's purpose in writing Colossians was to portray the fact that Jesus Christ is divine, and that only He can redeem mankind and provide salvation and eternal life. Paul warned that God's wrath would come against those who were disobedient, and pleaded with man to put away his anger, wrath, malice, railing against fellow men and lying, amongst other things. He detailed relationships and encouraged man to forgive one another as Christ forgives him. Colossians concludes with Paul offering prayer for his messenger and the people of Colosse; that they would turn away from their false religion and back to Jesus Christ.
Revelation
Revelation is an apocalyptic book of the New Testament; probably the most well-know. The purpose of the book of Revelation is to speak of the kingdom of God, the second coming of the Lord, and to detail the seven visions of John. Revelation begins with John hearing a voice commanding him to write of the things he sees. He then sends letters containing these things to seven churches, pleading with them to cast out their evil ways. From there, John writes about the earth's final days.
