Essay for Masters in Business Administration Application

My career goal is to become a certified public accountant with an entrepreneur spirit that will grant me the financial freedom to express myself. In order to achieve my objective, I have taken the initiative of efficiently utilizing the available resources to complete my assigned tasks at Texas Southern. The resources available for me were books, professors, tutors and colleagues. My passion for Accounting has given me a purpose for exhausting my available options in order to meet and exceed the expectations of my professors, academic advisors, as well as my parents. With the objective of enhancing my capabilities as a student and a young professional, I took the liberty of joining various academic organizations. The organizations that I have committed to are The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, The International Golden Key Honours Society, Phi Eta Sigma, The National Association of Black Accountants, The Houston CPA Society and Beta Alpha Psi. Within each organization, I have established a network which has granted me the opportunity to learn from professionals in various fields. Furthermore, these organizations have given me the experience of working with teams to fulfill mission objectives and acquire valuable leadership skills. Due to my initiative of affiliating myself with these organizations, I had the privilege of interning with Deloitte & Touche during the spring of 2011 in the auditing sector. They have extended an offer which I have signed, that is scheduled to start as soon as I am eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

My short-term goals after completing the MBA program, is to take and successfully pass the certified public accounting examination. However, the first step to even sitting for exam is obtaining a minimum of 150 collegiate hours. To obtain these hours, I have elected to join Texas Southern University MBA program that is tailored for accounting. I am confident that this program will grant me the knowledge necessary to comprehend the material on the exam. My obligation for fulfilling this objective is due to my commitment with the Texas CPA society. This organization has financed my last two undergraduate semesters because of my academic accomplishments and initiating my commitment to taking and passing the exam. The Texas CPA society along with Deloitte & Touche has given me access to the Becker professional education program in order to prepare for the exam. This program will provide me with all the necessary supplies to prepare for each of the four sections of the exam.

My long-term career goals are to gain the experience operating in various businesses in the field of audit. Given the opportunity of working with one of the "Big-4" accounting firms, I will be expected to interpret and communicate findings to
