As you can see many people on our society change and some just stay the same. Some change for bad and some change for good. As a student, I have changed a lot during school years and I have evolved while years pass by. I have learned that to get to the level you want to be you have to work hard and make you own efforts to survive in this society in which many times people do not like to see you doing well.
I have faced so many problems, and I have made many mistakes that when I am about to do them again, I just put a stop on myself and think about what I did wrong the first time and decide to go on another path with a positive outcome. I also have learned if you do not work with positivism you can go nowhere. Being negative won't solve anything because that's when frustration comes and bad thoughts can ruin your thinking and make you do things wrong. No matter how bad is the situation, there is always a solution for everything.
When I first came to the United States a few years ago, I would turn on my music in the class and not listen to the teacher's discussion. Why? Because I couldn't understand English and I didn't care. The teachers were calling my mom every day because they couldn't do anything else to help me. I would get bad grades from almost every class and that is when I started noticing that my grades were horrible and I needed to do something for myself. I never was involved in any school activity nor involved in class. After all that thinking, I started to do the opposite I had been doing at the beginning of the semester of my freshman year in high school. My grades improved, my attitude towards school completely changed and I even joined the volleyball team the following year. I felt relieved and calm knowing that my family was proud of that big change in my life. I graduated with honors and I even graduated with more credits than required for graduation. Now that I'm in college I see things from other perspective.
As a college student I often advise others that are in the same situation as I was before. The key to success is to be positive and dedicated to what you really love with passion. That's how I am in college now, because now all I do is dedicated my time to what I really want to become in the future. I have always wanted to be a teacher since I was little, and I'm so glad in a step closer to accomplishing that dream. I wouldn't like anything else than to be teaching kids what I know. I also give thanks to my teachers of Alverno because they are really helpful and they don't let you down at any circumstance. I just hope that you learned a lot about what I have learned and how I have changed; and get a better notion of who Dimaris Collazo was and who she is now.
