Purpose: to become thoroughly informed about marijuana to promote our health, safety and overall well being

1. What is Marijuana and how does it look like?

Marijuana is a shredded green-brown mix of dried flowers, stems and leaves from the plant Cannabis sativa

2. How does Marijuana make you feel?

Marijuana can make someone feel many ways. You can be very happy and excited. You can also feel nervous, you can get panic attacks and increase anxiety, you can start have hallucinations and delusions.

3. How is marijuana used?

Marijuana is usually rolled and smoked like a cigarette, or put in hollower-out cigars, piper or water pipes. Some people mix it into food or brew it as a tea

4. Why do people choose to use marijuana?

There are many reasons why people to choose to use marijuana. Some reasons teens start using marijuana is maybe because their under peer pressure, or they were influenced or they might think taking drugs will make them "cool and "popular". Also another reason people choose to use marijuana is because some people are depressed and believes that marijuana would help them escape from their problems.

5. Is marijuana addictive?

Yes marijuana can be addictive if you use it to much. Marijuana use can lead to the development of problem use, known as a marijuana use disorder and the disorder can become an addiction when the person continues to use it for a long time.

6. What are the short term effects? (On body, mind, and emotions)

Some of the short term effects are difficulty thinking and problem solving, problems with memory and learning, loss of coordination, distorted perception, an increase in appetite, feeling light headed or drowsy, a decrease in inhibitions and can your heart rate can double. Also a physical effect is the drug will expand the blood vessels in the eyes to make them look red.

7. What are the long term effects? (on body, mind and emotions)

Some of the long term effects are changes in brain like affection the parts of the brain that has the ability to remember, fertility issues like decreased count of sperm in men and delayed ovulation in women, effects in the respiratory system, immune system problems, emotional problems like depressed or getting anxiety.

8. Why do doctors prescribe marijuana to some patients?

Doctors prescribe marijuana to some patients to relieve pain, nausea, muscle stiffness or problems with movement-particularly for people with cancer or AIDS.

9. Could marijuana be used as a stress reliever?

Yes medical marijuana called sativa could be used to relieve extreme stress. Marijuana itself can be used to relieve stress but now medical marijuana clinics offer many different ways of it to meet the patient's needs.

10. Is marijuana popular with every segment of our population (teens, adults, seniors)?

Marijuana is the most widely used illegal drug among youth today. It is used by teens, adults and seniors but mostly teens. According to the globe and mail" Canadian teens lead developed world in cannabis use" in 2013 28% of 15 year olds admitted to have using marijuana before.
