Outline for knights of Columbus: the responsibility of the catholic citizens in a free society.

The responsibility for catholic citizens in a free society is to serve others. In Acts 20:35 it says" In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive." This is telling us that giving gets you closer to heaven and strengthens your relationship with God. This doesn't mean you can't receive. If you receive something, try to give something just as great or even greater then what you have received.

There are more responsibilities for a free society catholic then just to serve others. God also wants us to forgive each other. In Matthew 5:44-45 it says, "But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." In this verse it is telling us to pray for the ones who we strongly dislike and to the ones who accuse you of doing something you didn't do. The reason why God wants us to forgive each other is because we are all sons and daughters of God. God forgave us because he sent his only son to go die on the cross for us so we can all be saved and reconciled for our sins and live in the kingdom of Heaven.

God wants us to serve and forgive others. One of the most important things that God wants us to do is to spread the word of God. In Mark 16:15-16 it says, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." In the verse, it is saying to go tell the word of God to all of his creation. He also said to the ones who are baptized and believe they will be saved and will be sent to Heaven. For the ones who don't believe will not be saved and will be condemned to hell. This doesn't mean you have to believe in God in order to go to heaven, because as long as if you do good deeds and live to your fullest potential God will forgive you.
