The Objective of Business Ethics Is to Create Morally and Socially Responsible Citizens in the Corporate World

Thesis

Why ethics in an organization,encourages management and employees to be morally and socially responsible citizens.

1. Good business ethics result in more respect for the consumer and employees.

2. Good business ethics provides an acceptable return for owners and shareholders.

3. The employees and management would provide a workplace with dignity.

Introduction

John R. Boatright states that business ethics inquires into and justifies the decision making process,concerning what is right and what is wrong in all areas of business practice.I am writing this paper to emphasize that good business in an organization, encourages corporate social responsibility. Corporate social responsibility,as stated on www.the times100.co.uk. Means organizations working responsibly and contributing positively to the communities they operate in.

The thesis states that ethics encourages management and employees to be morally and socially responsible citizens, and i mean that management will encourage employees to be management,suppliers and customers.Management would be expected to do the right things, for e.g. not dumping waste in rivers.

Regarding the first point,good business ethics would result in management having more respect for employees and the customers who come to do business with the organization.For e.g. if the management treats employees with respect and fairness,then this will also rub off onto the customers.If management and employees,assist with building a school in the community,they are being morally and socially responsible.

I stated in the second point that ethics provides an acceptable return for owners and shareholders.People would do business with an organization like this,leading to the organization making a profit.Another organization like Digicel,doing great things like sponsoring sport,and doing charitable in Jamaica, making a profit for the major stakeholders.

Regarding the final point.Management should provide a workplace with dignity.I mean that management should provide a workplace with dignity.I mean that management should provide a clean work area, and a comfortable working environment.Employees on the other hand must be goal oriented and respectful to management.

An organization that has a reputation built by ethics, will have a standing in the community,partners will express a willingness to work along with the organization and that organization will provide benefits for employees and improve the quality of life in the workplace.
