Political Parties- Federalist- Hamilton, stronger central government. That has revenues and income. More control of what going on.

Jeffersonian- less federal government. Want states to have more of a say on how each states run its own business. They then become a democratic party. Republican began because of the big thing about slavery.

Prop 8 enacted by the states.

Jefferson- wrote the Declaration of independence. Came from Virginia and own plantation. Slaves helped him with the business. He's a slave holder. At the end of his life he used his slave as a payment for his debt. He had racialist fused. Thought black people were inferior and were not smart enough to be equal. He presented as a common man, but he wasn't.

Democracy- believe link to mop rule. Wanted people to see that there is Educated citizen. Manufacturing became complicated so need workers to read and write.

Yeoman Farmer- backbone of democracy.

John Marshall- 1801-1835. had a distinguish career. He's a Federalist. Because his service is for the rest of his life, it means the federalist policy will still be in play cause of his federal policy.

Marbury vs. Madison (1803)- Judicial reviews. Whether the law is constitutional.

Judiciary Act of 1801- circuit -goes town to town. Can appoint judges and they are called the Midnight Appointments.

Marbury is not entitle to be deliver in the appointment.

Government should be small for him. He cuts spending.

Haven't pay deficit then you are in debt. If you don't pay then you default.

Coup- he found westpoint in 1802. Need educated core officer that studies military science.
