What makes Man truly Human? For me, basically, man is human. But the essence of being truly human can reach by man if he achieved the fullness of life in the sense that he balances all the aspects of full development.
According to Ancient Greeks, man as a being composed of many natural potentialities and many possibilities for growth. They sensed that nature actively guided man to develop these potentialities, which a development that was meant to reach a state of fullness. There are four elements that denote man as truly human in Ancient Greeks Ideal of Full Development: First is the physical potentiality where man develops bodies and bodily skills. Second is the mental ability where man can expand his capabilities in thinking, imagining, or dreaming. Third is communication skill where man learns how to read, write and talk to be able to function as full human beings. Fourth is the social skill where man plays an important role and make significant contribution in the society. Thus, from the Greeks we have a clear ideal for human life and it is the humanism which has inspired and guided many people over the ages. Another perception is from the Oriental View which human existence is understood to be a matter of living as a part of something greater. In Hinduism, considers the greater reality to be divine and calls it Brahman or Atman. In Chinese tradition of Confucianism, the greater reality is human society and is understood exactly as a part of family, friendship or state. And the third tradition is Taoism, where the emphasis is on Tao, a mysterious, all-encompassing reality and is source of everything. Hebrew Understanding is another perception where man constantly faces challenges, expectations and called upon to respond. Other humanists of ideal of human life are the following: moral humanism where life is a full living of morality of laws on his religion and society. Next is the creativity where man is creative on all levels of his life. Another can be a religious humanism where human being is basically the image of God. There can also be a humanism of love where human existence is a matter of relating to other people.
