An application program is a computer program to support a specific task or business process. There are many information systems available to help businesses advance. There are five systems that will be addressed in this brief. The objective is to supply you with an adequate amount of knowledge to help best choose the right system or systems for Trixie's tunes. The system you choose should be compatible for the owners and the operators as well as align with the ultimate goal for the businesses' success.

Transaction Processing System (TPS) supports the monitoring, collection, storage, and processing from basic business transactions. TPS information systems collect data from user inputs and then generate outputs based on the data collected. This system may be useful for Trixie's Tunes in that a list of available merchandise can be updated. The consumer can then select the item of choice (the input), the system would then update availability based on customer purchases (the processing). The system would then generate a copy of the bill (the output).

Business Intelligence System provide computer-based support for complex, nonroutine decisions, primarily for middle managers and knowledge workers. Business intelligence systems collect data from the various data warehouses in an organization and provides management with particular analyses for needed assessments.

Supply Chain Management System manages the flow of products services and information. This system would allow the company to know which store sales what products.

Electronic Commerce System allows transactions between businesses and between the business and consumers. An example of this would be online shopping.

Functional Area IS is the system typically used for payroll. This system supports activities within a specific functional area.
