My second reason of why gym class should not be mandatory is because gym class is not going to take you anywhere in life. A strong example is there is no gym class in college and there is no other gym class careers excepted for a gym teacher. "For one, you're in school to learn, not to be graded on your performance on sports that you've never played, never had the desire to play, or never will play in the future. Colleges WON'T be handing out gym scholarships, and most likely never will. And we're HARDLY getting any physical activity anyway!"(AngelFire). This example basically says that school is meant for not running around all day but to sit down and get good grades because that is what colleges look at. They don't look at how fast you can run or how high you can jump. Also you have to think about the fact that not all kids enjoy gym class. "It's pure torture for them. More than likely, these teenagers who are forced to participate in physical education will hate exercise all the more. And once these teenagers are out of high school they will simply stop exercising."(Conor). You cannot forget the kids that have asthma. Those kids would have the hardest time in gym class than all the other kids.
My third and final reason why gym class should not be mandatory is there are other ways to stay in shape than taking gym. Sports are a great way to stay in shape and with a sport, you are doing something that you enjoy versus something like gym class which you hate for whatever reason.
