Almost every person who decides to study English seriously faces the following dilemma: is it better to study English at a school in one's own country or learn it in one of the English-speaking countries? The question is difficult to answer because there are advantages and disadvantages on both sides. If you study English in your country, you save money; you do not leave your family for a long time, and you do not have to miss your home and your loved ones. But on the other hand, if you never leave your country, you miss an opportunity to see how interesting and diverse the world is, and you do not get to experience what it means to live in an English-speaking environment. My own experience tells me that for at least three reasons, the best way to study English is to come to the USA. The reasons are these: the opportunity to learn English from native speakers, the possibility of learning about American culture, and the chance to become more open-minded.
Communication with native speakers is the best way to improve not only your speaking and listening comprehension skills but also to get a great chance to learn correct pronunciation and to expand your vocabulary. By talking with native speakers, you can understand how rich English is in vocabulary and idiomatic expressions. Of course, you can learn the basics of English in your country, but only a native speaker can explain to you the meaning of a joke or a pun. Moreover, Americans use specific body language, which makes a conversation more expressive and interesting, and you would miss out on this cultural aspect if you only studied English from an English-language teacher in your own country. All of these points make communication with native speakers unique.
