"Strategic competitiveness can be attained only when the firm's selected structure is congruent with its formulated strategy" (Gomez-Mejia et al., Chapter 7, pg. 28). Kudler Foods has always maintained growth based on Mrs. Kudler's principal vision of a one stop gourmet food store. She has been the main person having direct responsibility for making the new hires, the ordering process and the customer service portion of the company; she has built the business into an enlarging entity.
These following topics are discussions of how to implement a stragedy, the use of technological advances and opportunities, strategic recommendations and external forces to be knowledgeable of. Manny growing/starting businesses/companies have all used information technologies (IT) to make better improvements for operations and improve all aspects of customer service to keep them coming back to spend some money.
What Mrs. Kudler has planned is to have more (larger) inventory and having available an ordering automation by introducing a new e-commerce capability and an online catering link. Having the ability to obtain a Strategic Information Systems amplifies your business strengths into a competitive advantage that will give any company an opportunity to have a massive margin of profits. A perfect example is the massive airline company British Airways which implemented customer service online and self-checking services at the airports to its customers. One of the drawbacks to the implementation of this system was that it affected employees morale due to job loss, the company increased in efficiency and due to these new systems it replaced many of its top leadership members.
Mrs. Kudler is very well known for her kindness and her "giving heart" to employees, so the company will only make more profits with these new IT applications. The company used a couple of approaches of Strategic Information Systems. And these are: "inward focused" and "outward focused". The "inward focused" system is based on enhancing the competitive market position by increasing employees' productivity and morale by providing incentives (monetary) to its employees and family members, improving teamwork through training and family/community events and improving its communication process among its leaders and all employee.
Companies that changed their strategic mentality/ideas coupled with business activities have a greater opportunity to survive than to "mirror" (copy other business tactics) other companies.
