The scene that our group selected this particular scene as we felt that it was an important scene in the overall play. This is the scene where the difference in generation is very clear. The perspective of Eric and Sheila as well as the perspective of Mr and Mrs Birling are crystal clear especially towards the end of the scene. Eric and Sheila actually feel guilty for what they have done even if the inspector was fake while Mr and Mrs Birling feel as if it doesn’t matter at all.

In order to prepare for our reenactment. We tried to individually understand each of our characters in depth. This was so that we knew how to act. What kind of inner and outer actions we could use to portray our characters better. We needed to understand what our characters attitudes were towards the situation as well as their emotions towards other characters in the scene. For example my character Mrs Birling is a very proper high class lady. She does not feel like she is responsible for the death of eva smith. I made sure to sit as gracefully as possible and have my head in my hands as the stage direction said i have given up and collapse in a chair. As i am not a very lady like person my nature i tired to be as lady like as possible. The costumes were another aspect. We did not wanna go too over the top as we wanted the focus to be more on the scene and the content of the scene than the actual costumes. We had accent pieces so you could still tell what characters we were.

I feel like I did well in portraying Mrs Birling. I feel like i could have projected my voice better and paced myself when talking. I think i may have said my lines a bit too fast. I tried and most probably failed putting on a British accent as well as lowering my voice to make it sound older. I tried to pay extra attention to my body language throughout the entire performance. I wanted my body
