Distinct Intelligences

I am a clumsy college student who would not survive without GPS navigation on my phone. I have always struggled in math classes, and I find it hard to be secluded from others. While Howard Gardner writes about all humans having seven intelligences, it is apparent that we are not all the same. Therefore, there are those (intelligences) that are more pronounced than others. I do not believe that I excel in spatial intelligence but I do believe that I am musically inclined, linguistic, and interpersonal.

While people are known to have all intelligences, some are more distinguished than others. For as long as I can remember I have always reacted to music, whether it is lyrical or instrumental. Even though I am not gifted with the talent of playing an instrument I still enjoy singing. I can sit for hours and just listen to music. I have never truly had a preference. I have always been eager to meet new people and make new friends. I feel that I am more attuned to other people, this makes me more empathetic person. It is easy to sympathize with people and listen to what they need to say.

As I said I was very involved from a little kid until my freshman year in college. I was always busy doing something at school, church, or with the community. Musically, I was part of my church choir. While I can not play an instrument I still learned by ear and had my share of tiny solos. In school, the only thing that helped me survive choir is that I sing on key after hearing the note. This was the time that I really started performing in school. This love of performances ties into my interpersonal intelligence. I enjoyed performing with different groups. When performing it is important to pay attention to the crowd ans see how they gauge your performance. This makes it easier to give individualized attention to different people. Last, linguistics makes me more concerned with how I speaking. In high school
