Describe three ways in which you interact with a database on a daily basis. Also, explain where you think the data in the database is stored and how it is organized.
I use databases in three separate ways on the daily bases. I work with Military Health Systems and four of the nine software applications we use run on Oracle databases. The information is stored in tables on a central server and pulled down by the clients. The applications range from medical readiness and reporting to mental health status and medical supply tracking. Most of this information then goes to a master repository for Military Health Systems where it can be accessed by all four armed forces branches. I also take three classes each semester so I also log into the Strayer Icampus site daily which is also managed by a database.
Explain how the historical development of databases from the 1960s to the present time has impacted your perception of database technology.
I feel the biggest way that the historical development of the database has impacted my perception of database technology is it has made me aware of the relative ease of accessibility and convenience added to affairs everyday life that are facilitated by databases. The database started out with the files system method implemented with punch cards and has evolved into an element that we can't live without; managing and adding everything from healthcare to bank accounts. Databases started off as an exclusive method for the government entities such as the military and big corporation to manage, store and retrieve data. The evolvement of the database made it accessible to the general public.

Explain the importance of defining the objectives of a new relational database management system for an organization and identify who should be engaged in the development of a project charter to accomplish the objectives for the new system.
The importance of defining the objectives of a new relational database management system is it determines and clearly outlines what an organization needs to acquire from the database. Knowing the objectives will help in developing a comprehensive and manageable database that produces resourceful and relevant information for the organization. A database administrator she be engaged in the development of the project charter along with personnel from the organization's leadership.
