Corporal Punishment Is It a Necessary Part of Upbringing?

The definition of corporal punishment is the deliberate infliction of pain intended as correction or punishment. Corporal punishment acts as one of the worst memories of most children's lives. It seems as though parents and even teachers use this method to discipline kids. It is bad even that parents turn to this milder form or method for discipline, teachers also have stepped out of the teacher role and more so into the parental role by using this method on kids. Corporal punishment does not solve the problem that lies within the child. It merely inflicts pain on them for a couple of minutes, and then back to their old habits they are! Discipline can be achieved in other ways than corporal punishment. In fact corporal punishment does more harm than good.

One of the harms corporal punishment can do to a child is increase the rage within them and an increase in criminal activity it is possible among the next generation of adults. As a result, society will become more violent and people will be victimized. Therefore, the only things that is benefiting in this situation are the cemeteries, hospitals, and jails/ juvenile delinquent centers. The pain caused by a parent on a child can cause the child to want to make someone feel the everyday pain they feel. Dr. Ralph Welsh, who has given psychological exams to over 2,000 delinquents stated, "As the severity of corporal punishment in the delinquent's developmental history increases, so does the probability that he will engage in a violent act." The effects of corporal punishment can even go as far as suicide. If a parent "punishes" their child on a daily basis it could make the child feel as though he/she is not wanted or loved. If the child stays in a child's place of course they would have to endure the punishment. This making them hold all several emotions, which when held in too longs, causes huge blow-ups either on the parents of the child, friends, or other people in the public.

Another harm of corporal punishment is higher levels of clinical depression, clinical anxiety, and other drug addictions among teens. It can cause self-esteem issues among both girls and boys of all races. A large amount of self-esteem within a child is never good, especially, if it comes about from the acts of a parent or parental figure in their lives. A youth still has a lot to learn and their lives, new things to experience, and challenges to face. Suffering from self-esteem issues early in the life of a child causes so many issues and problems that eventually, starts to effect the things around them. Examples include loss of friends, school, and social issues. The results of this can be numerous. Anxiety is something that can be slightly controlled but when it is not very much under control, it can be deadly.

Corporal punishment can also lead to higher pregnancy rates. Corporal punishment can make some girl feel as though they cannot get the love from their parents, so they seek it from other people, mostly boys. When some girls start to want attend from boys it usually doesn't end up well. They want the attention of others so much so that they will go to any extent to hold that attention. Some girls think that having a boys child will keep them longer, but that is not true. Having a boy's child using pushes them away instead of bringing them closer. The pregnancy rate has grown so much that even the television shows about this issue has become more popular. For example the TV shows Teen Mom and 16 & Pregnant shows the struggle of teenage moms and the fathers of these kids. These shows are both good and bad. They are good
